SAT Reading Strategies and Practice with Chris Hughes

Students will analyze texts for critical patterns that can be used to help them have a higher likelihood of selecting the best answer on the SAT Reading section. Some of these patterns include:


  • Using Context Clues: Students will learn to infer the meaning of unfamiliar words or phrases by examining the surrounding text.
  • Identifying Connotation of Words: Understanding the emotional associations and implied meanings of words is crucial for comprehension and accurate answer selection.
  • Analyzing Prefixes, Suffixes, and Root Words: Deconstructing words into their component parts can help students decipher their meanings and expand their vocabulary.
  • Other Critical Patterns: Further strategies will be explored to enhance text comprehension and answer accuracy.


Students will have access to virtual practice tests that can be used to help them study. These tests provide students with a reliable and accurate simulation of the actual SAT test. Additionally, the practice tests offer valuable analytics regarding student performance and provide a mock score. This can be extremely helpful for students who often are not sure of how they would perform on the SAT until they take it. This gives them a head start and the opportunity to have targeted study material based on their areas of need, leading to more efficient and effective preparation.
